ComAp collaborated with Dalgakiran Compressor Ukraine, the local branch of Turkish industrial equipment manufacturer Dalgakıran Kompresör, to deliver a modern control solution for a 1.5 MW MTU gas-fired cogeneration unit for Retal Ukraine. As part of the global Retal Group and a leader in sustainable PET packaging, Retal Ukraine sought to integrate the cogeneration unit to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste, and strengthen the sustainability of their site.
Running on natural gas, the new cogeneration system produces both electricity and heat, reducing the site’s dependency on costly imported electricity that is often unstable during wartime conditions. To maximise the system’s performance, Dalgakiran integrated ComAp’s InteliSys 2000 controller alongside an InteliVision 10Touch display. The control system manages electrical and thermal outputs, optimising fuel efficiency and ensures smooth synchronisation with MTU’s MIP (MTU Interface Panel) control system for precise AFR (Air-Fuel Ratio) control.
ComAp’s InteliEngine Interface acted as a plug-and-play bridge between the MTU MIP4000 panel and the InteliSys 2000. With preconfigured templates, it enabled rapid, low-effort integration while providing advanced auxiliary heat management capabilities. The result is a seamless control solution that improves operational transparency, facilitates easy monitoring via a modern touchscreen interface, and ensures optimal performance of both the electrical generation and heat recovery processes.
As a result of the new cogeneration control solution, Retal Ukraine are able to operate with less dependency on the grid, reduced operational costs, and have progressed closer toward their sustainability targets.
