ComAp newest high-end products and technical expertise have been part of the installation of 16 Caterpillar 3516HD diesel generators for a demand-response power plant in Súčany (Central Slovakia). The plant is one of the three of such in the country. If needed, the gen-sets are started based on a signal received from the grid operator control centre and they provide common power of 32MW as contribution to grid stability in the area.

“The customer appreciated the flexibility and speed ComAp's products provide for starting and synchronisation of the generators in comparison with the old system”, says Miroslav Kurák, Head of Service and Maintenance at Zeppelin SK.

From specification of the control system, through the configuration and final tuning on site in real conditions, we have witnessed nothing but smooth cooperation”, remarks Kurák.

The scope of the project was the change of TERBERG control system which had served 13 years, in order to improve the synchronisation, stability, and reliability of the system. The process of transition was scheduled during a tight planned maintenance ofa 400kV transformer station, where the system is located and connected to the network.
